The bowl is free from monogram or crest, with the hallmarks clearly struck to the base. A beautifully created piece from one of the best Mexican silver retailers of the time.
The bowl stand 10.5cm tall and has a diameter of 11cm at the rim. Unpacked, it weighs in a respectable 281gms (9.03tr.oz).
Often referred to as the father of Mexican silver, American-born designer William Spratling established himself in Mexico following the revolution in 1931 with the purpose of re-creating a once productive silver industry. His designs and work were heavily inspired by both his travels and respect for the organic form. Following his death in 1967, his designs were purchased by Alberto Ulrich whose family still produce Spratling works.
