Here today for your consideration we have this beautiful vintage sterling silver spirit kettle set, designed and made by William Spratling for Plateria FarFan of Mexico, c-1949-1952. The set includes stand, spirit chamber with removable wick holder and kettle, each of matching design. The set is of very large proportion with segmented kettle body, repeating floral detail and acanthus leaf ornamentation, being of exceptional quality and gauge throughout. Condition is good used, with minimal signs of use evident. The set is free from monogram or crest, with the hallmarks struck to each piece. A beautifully created piece of large proportions from one of the best Mexican silver retailers of the time.

The set stands 40cm tall and measures 24.5cm handle-to-spout. It has a capacity of about 1.7L (57.5 fl.oz) and weighs in at a very impressive 2,815gms (90.5tr.oz).

Often referred to as the father of Mexican silver, American-born designer William Spratling established himself in Mexico following the revolution in 1931 with the purpose of re-creating a once productive silver industry. His designs and work were heavily inspired by both his travels and respect for the organic form. Following his death in 1967, his designs were purchased by Alberto Ulrich whose family still produce Spratling works.
