Here for your consideration we have this superb Victorian sterling silver desk set standish, made by John Harrison & Co of Sheffield, c-1863 (bottle lids marked for Birmingham, c-1862 & 1863). The set is of generous proportion and features a splayed rectangular body with pierced, pressed and bright cut design. The platform features a pen tray with central fitted bowl and fitted diamond-checker glass bottles either side. Condition is good used, with damage limited to the discrete loss of a small piece of pierced detail near one shield (per photos), and some cloudiness to one of the glass bottles (a thorough clean should improve). The set is free from monogram or crest, with each piece hallmarked. A very fine desk set of excellent quality for the discerning collector.
The set has an overall footprint of 33cm x 24cm (13" x 9.5") and stands approximately 16.5cm (6.5") tall. Unpacked, it has a total weight of 1.8kgs, with the tray and bowl (excluding glass) contributing a generous 922gms of this.
The final photo shows the set with a bottle of champagne. This has been utilised to show the impressive scale of the set, and is not included with the purchase.
